When your child enters the toddler’s room they will experience a secure, active learning environment that gives them opportunities to explore, develop independence and to form social connections with others.
We have a routine throughout the day we approach with flexibility to nurture the needs of our children.

Some practical tips for the Toddlers Room:
As you know toddlers are energetic, on the move and curious explorers. We like to provide them with many opportunities for hands on learning. Consequently, there are times when changes of clothes – (but under and outer clothing) will be required following sensory experiences with water, paint, sand, gloop and feeding themselves to name a few. It is a good idea to have at least two changes of clothing suitable for weather conditions and for wearing at Reach for the Stars.
Toileting– We are committed to working in partnership with you to support your child’s success with the milestone of toileting. Please let us know how you would like this important stage to be managed and we will regularly provide feedback to you and we ask you do the same.
Sleeping – This means different things for different children. Our sleep routine occurs once a day following lunch. If your child has a special comforter they choose to sleep with, we are very happy for them to bring this item to Reach for the Stars and they can use this to comfort them at sleep time.
If you require any further information on what to expect from the toddler room please do not hesitate to talk to any of our teaching team to assist your child’s transition to their new environment.
Hi, I’m Amy and I am one of the teachers in the Shining Stars room. I started working at Reach for the Stars in September 2017. Before that I was working as a full time Nanny looking after 3 children, a toddler and twin babies. I graduated from the Ashton Warner Nanny Academy in October 2016 and worked as a Nanny for a year before starting here.
I was born in Cape Town, South Africa and moved to New Zealand in 2001 with my parents and younger sister. I currently live out west in Kumeu with my family who I am very close with. We have two gorgeous little dogs Molly and Frankie and a cat called Misty. In my spare time I love spending time with my family and partner. I have a passion for sport and played netball for 13 years.
I absolutely love working with children and have been babysitting since I was 15 years old. Working as a Nanny I was able to personally help and encourage the children I cared for to expand their physical and emotional development. Watching the babies learn to walk and get more and more confident was a very rewarding feeling. I believe every child should have the opportunity to learn and grow at their own pace and enjoy learning about themselves and their surroundings.
I’m passionate about teaching children to become confident individuals, and I believe that they are competent and capable learners. I absolutely love my job and enjoy working with our Tamariki, their family/Whanau and our staff.
Hi! I’m Jessica Redman. I am a mum of three amazing children 17yrs, 5yrs and 17mths. I live on the North Shore of Auckland with my husband and children. I’m a teacher with over 15yrs of experience, specifically within pre-school and year one and two learning levels. I am extremely passionate and knowledgeable about these learning levels and believe they are the most critical in your child’s learning journey.
My philosophy for learning is that each child is unique, and that each child learns in different ways. One of my most rewarding jobs as a teacher is to help your child discover his or her individuality and work alongside them to maximize this. I believe the best way to achieve this is through hands-on experiences, learning creatively and through lots of play.
The classroom I create has a feeling of security, where all children’s ideas are fostered and built upon. Teaching for me is one of the biggest rewards, I love teaching children for their uniqueness, excitement and new challenges they bring to me every day.
Teaching is an extremely gratifying job however I cannot do it on my own, it is important to me that I work in a very close partnership with parents. This is so that together we can provide the support and encouragement needed to help your child learn in the best environment possible.
I look forward to an exciting learning journey together!
Hi there! My name is Angelique; however you can also call me Angie.
I come from a large family with five brothers and two sisters along with 11 nephews and nieces, I also have 2 children under the age of five.
I have always been very passionate about children. I have babysat many of my nieces and nephews over the years. I have also previously undertaken studies for a Bachelor of Teaching degree and I have worked as a reliever teacher and cleaner at another childcare centre.
Watching my own children learn and grow, along with working with and alongside other children made me realise how much it means to me to work within a career field in which children are involved.
I love cooking for my own family and friends and I feel very honoured to be a cook for the children here at Reach for the Stars. I know how important healthy food is for young children’s growing bodies, and that offering plenty of healthy food during the early years of a child’s life can set them up for future healthy choices.
I am extremely excited to have this opportunity to be a part of not only providing all the children here at Reach for the Stars nutritious and delicious meals, but also getting to know all the children and their families too.
